abstract
metal and semiconductor materials with engineered micro-/nanostructures show new optical properties that do not exist in same bulk materials. plasmonics and photonic crystals developed in the past decades are good examples of such materials. in this talk, i will show my group’s recent efforts in the design and fabrication of engineered micro-/nanostructures and apply these structures for photonic applications, including optical sensing, photovoltaics and led lighting.
colloidal quantum dot (cqd) materials have been developed for next- generation optoelectronics in the past decade. various cqd-based devices, such as photodetectors, light-emitting diodes, and solar cells, show promising results in terms of detection sensitivity, device response time, and other features of merits. here i will also cover our works on extending the application of cqds to filter-free narrowband photodetection and luminescent solar concentrators.
