长期从事与无机合成及催化相关的基础与应用研究，重点是无机氧化物基催化剂及羰基化催化反应，承担并完成了多项国家、省部级及横向研究课题，在国内外学术期刊上发表学术论文100多篇，并有科研成果转化成工业过程。作为第二完成人获得天津市自然科学三等奖。目前招收无机合成方向的硕士生和博士生。
